A Servant’s Hands

God has given us all gifts and talents to use while we are here on earth with one another. The challenge is to discover these gifts and utilize them to the best of our ability. Massage Therapy was one of those gifts of passion that I have within me. Using the talents God has given me with using my hands and senses in knowing  how to help a person to receive pain relief, restore them to a better stage of health, and help them to find relaxation is one of my missions here at A Servant’s Hands. Once we are able to achieve these stages of pain relief, restoration and relaxation, then our mental, emotional and spiritual senses can all come together in a more healthy form.

I received a professional massage for the first time in Eureka Springs Arkansas while my wife and I were on our honeymoon. A massage therapist by the name of Dale that was looking after the cottage we were staying in was offering massages in home there during our stay. Now, I have to tell you that I suffered bad from Seasonal Allergies, and it was the end of May. So I don’t have to tell you that I was suffering. But this particular May I was suffering so bad that my eyes were starting to swell shut. This male massage therapist started working on my head and back, and I could immediately feel my allergies start to drain and my headache was almost completely gone. There was a place near the side of my back that he pressed into with his elbow and I almost literally came off the table, it hurt so bad. I asked him to please let off some pressure, but he asked me to hang in there. Finally it felt like he took the pressure off with his elbow and was removing his elbow. I told him thank you for doing so, and my wife Linda started to laugh. I asked what was so funny. She replied, “ Dave, he hasn’t moved his elbow, if anything he is giving a little more pressure. “ I was amazed at how much better I could breathe and that the swelling in my eyes had almost disappeared by the end of the day. Not to mention that I just felt much better overall by being more relaxed and able to move around so much better. I wasn’t nearly as tight. I slept so good the rest of our honeymoon.
I thought that allergy medicine was the only solution in knocking out allergy symptoms. I never knew that massage could treat the actual problem and control allergies better. So this left a big impression on me with the benefits of massage. I wanted to go to school so that I could help other people feel better from whatever it was that they were suffering from. So, I was in a place in my life where I finally came to wondering what on earth I was here for and what God had intended me to do with my time in this life. So after and many nights being up at 3:00 in the morning visiting with God in prayer, I felt He was  telling me that He has given me these gifts and talents to use my hands, and to rely on His Son Jesus to use me as His instrument to work through and guide me with what I needed to do to help people., so I attended the Kansas College of Chinese Medicine to receive the training I would need to be able to apply these talents and gifts. I also was inspired to open my own business, since I felt that there needed to be a place where people that came to our business knew that God was invited to be present there and that He was the main source of knowing hoe to take care of the body that He designed. If we just give our bodies the nutrition and care they need , they will take care of themselves.
